Kosovo Summer School Trip

KOSOVO SUMMER SCHOOL TRIP
JULY 16th-25th

Ten years on from the end of the Balkan civil war, as the tiny country of Kosovo tries to establish its independence and identity, it is desperate to be recognised by Western European countries and the UK in particular.
Together with pupils and teachers from St Christopher’s School, Letchworth, seven Tonbridge boys* accompanied by Mr Morrison and Miss Wood, helped to run an Arts’ based Summer School for over 70 young children who, in one way or another, still need to be reminded of happier, more creative times. Gjakova, where the summer school takes place suffered a number of ethnic cleansing atrocities and is still in the process of rebuilding itself. The trip gave the boys an experience they have all said was one they will never forget; in turn, they gave the children a wonderfully warm and creative time as the art, music, drama and dance workshops built towards a performance in the town’s theatre (The Palace of Culture).
