The system of recommending books for wider reading takes into account the different levels of reading ability and interest within each year group. Reading lists are organised by genre (such as war, classics, fantasy and so on) and accompanied by levels, ranging from 1 to 5, from least to most challenging, aimed at the entire school student reading body. There is also a follow-up to the Novi list for advanced readers in the first and second year entitled ‘Moving on’ and 'Moving on 2'. We recommend that parents look at them and encourage their son's reading at the level which challenges and interests him without 'turning him off'.
