The School's pianists and singers, both students and staff, combine to perform two of Schumann's greatest works. His ‘Scenes from Childhood’ for piano is full of poignant reminiscences of his earlier years. The pianists are then joined by a number of singers for a performance of Schumann's heart-breaking song-cycle ‘A Poet’s Love’ setting texts by Heine.

The School Symphony Orchestra continues our concert celebration with a programme featuring Schumann's Third Symphony, the ‘Rhenish’. Inspired by the Rhineland, the symphony includes folksong, depictions of nature and an imposing representation of Cologne cathedral. Chopin's music will be represented with a selection of familiar movements from his ballet ‘Les Sylphides’.
