Holiday Courses > Introduction
A very warm welcome to Tonbridge School's Holiday Courses 2008 and the many sporting and creative activities we have for you.
This year, along with all the old favourites we are delighted to be able to re-introduce our swimming courses for the Summer Holidays. These will take place in our new state-of-the-art sports centre which will be opening for the summer term. Also new for this year is a half-day drama course, for those who also wish to take part in another activity in the afternoon.
We pride ourselves in the care that we offer every child who comes here and are confident that it will be a positive experience for everyone. We believe that we create a happy relaxed environment for the children to enjoy the courses. At the same time we continue to monitor closely the arrangements we have put in place to ensure the safety and security of each child and we ask you to read the security arrangements on the following page very carefully.
Our activities involve specialised coaching and instruction in small groups, under the supervision of experienced, qualified staff. Our pupil/instructor ratio for under 5s is 6-1, 5 to 7 year olds is 8-1 and 8 years plus is a maximum of 12-1, depending upon the activity.
In order to cater for busy families we are open from 8.30am to 5.00pm and parents can drop off and collect children at any time between these hours. Children taking advantage of this service should be registered with us each morning and afternoon (we have provided a tick box for you to do this on the application form). The children will be looked after in the modern, purpose-built Orchard Café where they can watch a video, make new friends and buy food and drink. This is the main gathering point and coaches will collect and return their groups to this central point. Our general care assistants are always in the Café to welcome you, as well as to help, care for and talk to your children during recreation periods.
All our staff are fully qualified to coach their respective courses, and after an interview successful applicants are required to provide two referees and undergo an enhanced Criminal Records check. Many staff have worked here for several years and children returning are pleased to see familiar, friendly faces.
All courses are four half days except for some of the Drama Workshops which are four whole days.
We look forward to meeting the many new faces who come to us each year as well as those of you who have been before and enjoy coming back to be with us again.

Courses Director.
