Mathematical Society
Extra Curricular > Clubs And Societies > Mathematical
The mathematical society meets fairly regularly and covers a wide range of interesting topics.
There is no specific main focus - talks are given on any and all things mathematical in nature.
Typical recent examples include:
- You can have your cake and eat it
- The Search for Large Primes
- Feuerbach's Theorem
Pupils frequently give talks on subjects that interest them, and guest speakers are also invited. In February, there is a Mathematical Presentation Contest in which Sixth Formers present 10 minute talks to an audience and invited judge.
The Society is presided over by Mr Ian Pinkstone, and there is a secretary who is the society's representative and administrator.
