Ruston Society

The Ruston Society is the name given to the informal Christian meeting at Tonbridge. The name is chosen to convey the message that there is no need for any Christian commitment to attend any of the society's meetings. Indeed the meetings are often at their most interesting when there is some lively debate after the speaker has spoken. Most weeks there is a visiting speaker who speaks for up to 20 minutes. Discussion often follows over refreshments. Many boys have found this a vital forum for considering their own response to Christianity and have valued the friendly and informal atmosphere.

Meetings are held each Friday 6.40-7.20pm in the Sixth Form Centre. Everyone is very welcome at a one-off meeting when the topic particularly appeals or to come along more regularly. Details of each meeting are conveyed by poster to the whole school and a termcard is produced for those who attend more regularly. There is usually a small committee of senior boys who help the staff to run the meeting.
