The Economics Department offers an Economics/Politics Society which meets approximately twice a term to hear visiting speakers from the academic, political and business world. The aim of the Society is to offer students a means to broaden their subject knowledge and apply what they have learnt to the 'real world'. Below is a sample of the type of speakers the Society has recently enjoyed:
| Speaker | Title |
| Andrew Feinstein (formerly ANC member of Parliament) | Globalisation |
| Tristan Price (Economist, OECD) | Transition Economies in Europe |
| Graham Bird (Professor of Economics, University of Surrey) | Macroeconomic Policy over the last hundred years |
| John Bercow (MP) | The current state of the Conservative Party |
| Marc Menary (Economist, Bank of England) | How does the Bank set interest rates and what are the future prospects? |
A committee of Upper Sixth boys are in charge of inviting and hosting our guest speakers. A dinner is attended following the talk for a small number of invited students to enjoy the opportunity of discussion with the speaker.
