Lent and Summer Terms

The Lent Term club is open to third year boys and above; the Summer Term club is open to all boys but priority is given to those in older years.  Climbing is a hazardous sport and high standards of discipline and safety are expected from all members.

The Club uses the Prosser Memorial Climbing Wall, a state of the art modern indoor wall (within the Tonbridge Sports Centre) capable of accommodating up to 38 climbers at any given time and with the capacity for routes to be changed and re-set at regular intervals.  In the Summer Term the club visits local sandstone outcrops (at Bowles, Bulls Hollow, Eridge, Harrisons Rocks, High Rocks, Stone Farm and Under Rockes) on a weekly basis and regular trips are run to climbing venues further afield.  In recent years the club has visited the Cuillin on Skye, the Peak District, the Dartmoor tors, the Cornish sea cliffs, the Isle of Portland and the Costa Blanca in Spain.

There is an annual house climbing competition in the Lent Term and a team from Tonbridge has competed in every one of the annual Independent Schools Climbing Competitions, hosting the event in 2009.
