High Street, Tonbridge,
Kent, TN9 1JP

Master-in-charge: Mr James Nicholls
Michaelmas and Summer Terms
Open to all years but as the club can be oversubscribed, priority is given to boys with lower handicaps.
Tonbridge plays either at home at Wildernesse Golf Club or away at a variety of clubs around the South East including Royal St George's, Chart Hills, Royal Ashdown, West Sussex, Worplesdon and Walton Heath. Regular group coaching is arranged with a local Professional.
Tonbridge is a very successful golf school and we compete in many regional and national school competitions. There are about 10 matches against other schools in each of the Michaelmas and Summer terms as well as matches against the Old Boys and the Common Room. The school also arranges a Fathers and Sons competition during the Easter holidays, most recently at the Royal St George's. In 2008 a school team competed in the International Schools Golf Challenge at Sun City in South Africa and a tour to Bermuda took place in Autumn 2010.
The national HMC Foursomes is organised by the Master i/c Golf at Tonbridge and in 2010 the school reached the Regional Final. Tonbridge School also won the 2009 South of England Schools’ Invitational event at West Sussex GC as well as the Smarden Bell match, a four schools’ event held at Chart Hills. It is not uncommon for boys to leave Tonbridge playing off a low single figure handicap; indeed in recent years two boys have won golf scholarships to American universities upon leaving the school.
The Old Tonbridgian Golfing Society is also one of the most successful in the country, winning the Halford Hewitt tournament no fewer than five times in the last ten years.
