Plays and Concerts

The E.M. Forster Theatre

The E. M. Forster Theatre was opened in 2000 and hosts a diverse range of artistic events from prestigious companies such as Candoco, Mediaeval Baebes and the Reduced Shakespeare Company, through to comedians such as Marcus Brigstocke and Andy Parsons. It also hosts children’s theatre companies, local amateur dramatics groups and a great number of school performances.

The modern proscenium arch theatre seats 370 people in comfort, with excellent panoramic views throughout and very good disabled access. It is a highly adaptable theatre with a large stage, orchestra pit, advanced lighting, sound and audio-visual facilities. Also situated within the complex is a Studio Theatre, with seating for up to 90, which is well suited to small-scale and experimental performances.

For hirers we provide, as part of our service, a fully-staffed licensed bar, a front of house manager, ushers and a theatre technician. We also provide a complete box office service.
