Academic

The team of Jeremy Poon (FH), David Pigott (CH), Tom Warrener (SH) and Alex Davan Wetton (SH) represented Kent at the Royal Society of Chemistry Top of the Bench competition on 16 April. Each of the 30 teams were regional champions, and our team came 4th (our previous best in the competition was 8th) behind Stamford Endowed Schools, St Aloysius College and Bradford Grammar. In addition David Piggott won a salver for the best individual performance, for scoring 100% on one section.

Graeme Paterson (MH) has been awarded an Army Scholarship.

OT News

Golf: The OT Golf Team scored a singular triumph in retaining the Halford Hewitt trophy at Royal Cinque Ports GC on 10 April, beating Rossall 4 - 1, the first time we have won it two years running. Also notable was the 100th Hewitt match (a win!) for Geoff Clay.

Rowing: Two Mathematicians with Tonbridge associations represented Cambridge in the Boat Race over Easter: James Orme (FH 1997 - 2002) rowed in Goldie; and Emma Davis (KJD's daughter) coxed the Women's lightweights.

Academic: Ben Baulf (HS 1998 - 2003) and James Naylor (SH 1998 - 2003) both gained firsts in the Classical Honour Moderations at Oxford; James also won the Comparative Philology prize.
