Before coming to Tonbridge, Tim Haynes was the Headmaster of Monmouth School since 1995. Monmouth is an HMC school for about 700 boys, boarding and day, aged 7 - 18: it was founded in 1614 and is one of the Haberdashers' Company schools. Before his appointment to Monmouth Tim had taught History at St Paul's School for 13 years, and was Surmaster (i.e. Deputy Head) from 1992.
Tim was educated at Shrewsbury School and Reading University, thereafter taking his PGCE at Pembroke College, Cambridge. He is aged 50 and married to Charlotte: they have two sons Theo (11) and Joseph (9).
