Out of 69 applications to Oxford or Cambridge, 37 so far have received offers, with one or two students still waiting to hear. Tim Haynes said "a success rate of more than 50% is remarkable. This figure also represents almost a quarter of the whole year group (24.5%) and suggests that not only are the right boys are applying, but also that they are prepared and supported by a very experienced team of subject teachers, tutors, and housemasters".
It is felt in the school that there is no bias either for or against pupils from independent schools, and that top universities offer places purely on the basis of which students show the most potential.
