Whole School Walk

Thursday 3rd July 2008

July 2nd saw the whole school dedicate a whole day to raise money for the charity, raising an impressive £30 000.

The majority of boys and staff took part involved in a sponsored walk of 18 miles, starting and finishing in the school grounds.

A small, intrepid group of Novi arranged a marathon relay swim, covering an equivalent distance to swimming the channel.

The day then culminated in a Charity Fair, with each house setting up a stall or game to raise more funds for charities.

The money raised will go to the following charity:

  • The Bridge Trust, a local charity that helps find temporary accommodation for the homeless in the borough.
  • The Hospice in the Weald, another local charity that specialises in easing the suffering of those who are terminally ill by giving them specialist support in their final weeks and days.
  • Orchid-Cancer, a charity that funds research into cancers which target the male population, and young males in particular.
  • Amanikids, a charity which shelters abandoned children as young as three in Tanzania, and about which we received a very moving letter from a recent OT (Gabriel Chapman MH 1996-2001), and with whom he has been doing voluntary work.

This day was a statement that the school is committed as a whole community to helping others less fortunate than ourselves.
