Peter Carpenter, Director of Teaching and Learning, has been chosen as one of The Poetry Society's Teacher Trailblazers. This awards recognises his "exceptional dedication to enhancing quality in young people's poetry writing".

Peter is a longstanding member of the English Department at Tonbridge and regularly leads Creative Writing Courses. He is also a visiting Fellow at the University of Warwick and was Creative Writing Fellow at the University of Reading in 2007-8. He is a trustee of the Poetry Society and co-directs Worple Press. His poems have appeared in numerous literary journals including Poetry Review and the TLS. He has published four poetry collections since 1997; his fifth, After the Goldrush, is published in October 2009.
