Launched by Emma Sim, the School’s Creative Consultant, the inaugural House Film Competition captured the boys’ imagination and showcased a rich mix of creative talent.
The brief for the competition was to produce a one-minute film that contained only one shot and related to the word ‘UGLY’ and was designed to push the boys to use visual language and force them to consider composition, shot size, movement of the camera and choreography of those in front of the camera, Mainstream television (factual, soaps and occasionally drama) is sometimes guilty of forgetting these principles and has become too reliant on dialogue, script and voiceovers to communicate their story.
Judde House won the award for Best Film for their portrayal of a doomed attempt to film a remake of the cult classic ‘Dirty Harry’ whilst trying to placate a belligerent director.
Other honourable mentions go to
-
Best Direction : Charles De La Mare (Cowdrey)
-
Best Cinematography: Nick Whitney (Welldon)
-
Best Performance : Tom Edkins (Judde)
