Floyd Reading Competition

Monday 22nd March 2010

The Floyd Reading is a long-standing and much celebrated competition, designed to help all boys to share a love of literature and to think carefully about the ingredients of a successful performance reading. All boys in the Novi and 2nd Year participate in the competition via their English lessons and the competition is voluntary for boys in the senior years. Boys select and read either an extract of prose or a poem in the preliminary rounds and read both in the semi-final and final; every year the audience hears both new versions of old favourites and are introduced to exciting works for the first time.

This year's competition was judged by Dan Stevens; Dan was at Tonbridge School, studied English at Cambridge and is now a professional actor, with a string of film and television credits to his name. He also specialises in audio books; recent credits here include ‘War Horse’ and Hilary Mantel’s acclaimed ‘Wolf Hall’.

Congratulations to the participants and winners in the 2010 Floyd Reading Competition.
