More about Idle Minds:

In 2005 Hamish Ballingall joined Tonbridge and brought his electric guitar to board with him, despite having not played it for several years. Tom Edkins and Hamish began writing songs later that year, inspired by their mutual love of classic rock and roll. Tom and Henry Gleave had been friends since prep school, so Henry (a music scholar, now leading the school orchestra) soon started drumming when the band had its first recording studio session in 2008. Jimi Dallimore-Symonds joined as bassist soon after, suggesting the name 'Idle Minds', the name of his dad's school band. Jimi was a year above the other band members, so when he left Tonbridge his shoes were very capably filled by Ian Chan, who had joined Tonbridge in the Lower Sixth. Whilst Idle Minds are most influenced by 60s and 70s rock bands like The Who, Hamish has become well known at Tonbridge for his innovative acoustic guitar playing, winning the 2010 Tonbridge Has Talent competition with an original song influenced by John Butler and Andy McKee, and the band have recently started incorporating some of Hamish's bluegrass slide guitar into their compositions. Although the band members are all going to different universities, they look forward to performing their last gig at Tonbridge on the Whole School Charity Day in June.

The video to accompany the latest Idle Minds Track was produced using the facilities of the Tonbridge School Media Centre. All first year boys at Tonbridge are introduced to the Centre's facilities and are encouraged to develop their own creative projects and also invited to help with the Schools' recordings and broadcasts.
