BOODLES ISFA Cup Latest News

Thursday 1st December 2011

Yesterday was a red letter day for the Tonbridge football team, who beat Brentwood to go through to the semi-finals of the Boodles ISFA Cup. Brentwood is the most successful team in the competition; they are the first school to have won all three ISFA cups and their current team contains a number of boys who were national champions at U13s and U15s two years ago. This makes our 1-0 win yesterday even more of an achievement.

Coach John Bleakley says “This is a fantastic achievement by a side that remains unbeaten all season. The whole team rose to the challenge, and the support from parents and OTs helped make the day a truly memorable one”.

Dylan Rees-Williams and Ben Pryor

FOURTH ROUND HIGHLIGHTS - TERRIFIC TONBRIDGE STUN BRENTWOOD

Tonbridge pulled off one of the big shocks of the season when they travelled to Brentwood and came away with a 1-0 win.  Brentwood hit the bar early on but Tonbridge also came close in the first half which was an even affair.  However, mid-way through the second half. Alex Holder’s corner was beaten out by the Brentwood goalkeeper but only as far as Dylan Rees-Williams who headed Tonbridge into the lead.  A minute later Brentwood had a golden chance to equalise when they were awarded a penalty but Tonbridge goalkeeper Ben Pryor, who was brilliant all afternoon, saved the kick.  Brentwood thew men forward in the closing stages but they could not beat Pryor and Tonbridge went through.
