Meals

Pastoral Care > Meals

Each boarding House has its own dining room, kitchen, and domestic staff, and boarders take all their meals in their own Houses during the week. Each day House has its separate dining room either within the House or in the Orchard Centre. On Saturday evenings and Sundays the boarders from all Houses meet together for more informal meals in the Orchard Centre, where the Chefs operate a running buffet system. Boys are served with a wide choice of hot meal items for breakfast, lunch and supper, including a vegetarian option and an extensive self-service salad bar.

The school aims for the highest possible standards in catering provision and this is recognised in two external local Council Audits. Tonbridge School is the only school in the area to have received a "Healthy Eating Award" which involved having all aspects of the catering provision assessed. The school kitchens have also all received "Clean Kitchen Awards" at a level which puts our standards of hygiene and management control well above the legal requirement. These results are a reflecting a highly professional, dedicated Catering Department, a commitment to fresh ingredients were possible and, the investment of over one million pounds on the kitchens in recent times.
