Tonbridge Professional Development (TPD) is now in its third year, offering Professional Development courses with a simple formula: high quality presentations, good practical advice and low costs. Our cost-effective courses mix key note speakers, ‘in house’ experience from Tonbridge’s own practitioners and practical advice that is aimed at a broad audience (independent and state school teachers, primary and secondary, parents, anyone interested in ‘big educational issues’). In addition we make use of our student voice.
Recent conference speakers have included Bea Colley (Creative Writing), Graham Watts (Developing Independent Learning), Lord Moynihan (Sports), and Susie Orbach (Counselling).
Courses on Community, PSHE and Creative Writing elicited overwhelmingly positive feedback:
- Excellent course which enlightened my understanding of reasons and purposes of charity work. The use of students to share their experience was a great idea
- Really enjoyable and has reminded me that the key to our job is exciting passion in our students
- Really pleasant atmosphere – well organised – got the sense of a very closely-knit team
- I especially enjoyed the pupil input and the mindfulness session
The Mindfulness Conference in 2010 was the first of its kind in the UK and featured key note speakers of world renown; and was repeated in 2011.
