Denys Mialkovskyi (OH 22-24) wins Academic and Sporting Scholarship to the University of Delaware

Denys Mialkovskyi joined Tonbridge School from Ukraine in September 2022 as a Day Boy in Oakeshott House.

During his time at Tonbridge, he studied English, Economics, History at A-level, alongside an EPQ, whilst also representing the School in swimming and basketball, as well as swimming for RTW Monson and Kent.

In December, he was awarded both Academic and Sports Scholarships to the highly ranked University of Delaware, a prestigious Division 1 (D1) school competing at the highest level of NCAA US college sports, where he is now furthering his education and athletic training.

Denys is already proving his worth for the Blue Hens, claiming a Bronze Medal at the CAA Championships in the 500 Yard Freestyle, with a time of 4:23.97 - a swim that also saw him become the Freshman record holder.

Master in Charge of Swimming, Josie McNeil, said, "I am absolutely delighted that Denys is following his passion and ambition to become a professional swimmer. He is not only a talented swimmer and strong academic, his work ethic and gentlemanly demeanour also make him a superb role model for boys in our wider community."

Graham Barnes, Housemaster of Oakeshott added, "We are very proud of how Denys quickly settled into and embraced School life after relocating to the UK. Beyond his swimming, we are grateful for the positive contribution that he made both to our House and the wider School community. We wish him all the very best and look forward to following his success."
