Outstanding A-level 2024 Results Achieved by Upper Sixth

  • Academic

Pupils, parents and staff are celebrating outstanding A-level results achieved today by Tonbridge’s Upper Sixth pupils.

This year, an impressive 94 per cent of all grades awarded are A*, A or B, with 75 per cent of those being A* and A. Notably, almost half of the cohort (81 boys) have achieved straight A* and A grades.

These excellent results have secured places for many students at the UK’s top universities, including Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, the London School of Economics, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Durham, Bath and UCL, among others. The majority of leavers have successfully gained entry to their first-choice destinations.

Additionally, a significant number of students have opted to study abroad, with several gaining admission to prestigious U.S. institutions such as the University of Michigan, New York University, Purdue University and UCLA.

James Priory, Headmaster said: “I am delighted to see our students performing so strongly today and progressing to such a diverse and impressive range of destinations as they embark on the next exciting stage in their careers.

“They have made a huge contribution to the life of the School community and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they now have in the wider world thanks to all that they have learned and experienced.”

Launched in 2020, the Sixth Form Curriculum was inspired by the skills identified by The World Economic Forum as having the most value in today’s workplace, and include complex problem-solving, critical thinking and creativity.

The Curriculum allows students to develop advanced specialisation in their A-level subjects while maintaining a broad academic experience through options such as the Extended Project Qualification and additional language courses.
