Tonbridge School is celebrating after 24 boys received Oxbridge offers. STEM subjects remain popular, yet the diversity of offers is also notable, with subjects including Maths, Medicine, Law, Philosophy and Spanish, Fine Art and English Literature and Language.
Dr Jonathan Dixon, who leads Tonbridge’s Oxbridge preparation programme, said:
“These students have worked incredibly hard to achieve this, and their success is a testament to their dedication, as well as the invaluable guidance and support they have received from their Oxbridge mentors and teachers throughout this process.”
The School’s Headmaster, James Priory, added, “Congratulations to all those who have received offers from leading universities this year. Despite fierce competition, Tonbridge boys consistently win coveted places at sought-after institutions due to their intellectual flair and to the commitment they show to their chosen subjects."
More broadly, there have been a total of 468 offers received, with 82% from Russell Group and 92% from Russell Group and Higher Tariff universities. This includes US offers so far from Brown, Georgia Tech, the University of Southern California and two from the University of Miami – despite most offers not being released until the end of March. In addition, there have been 13 offers from Hong Kong University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong as well as an offer from McGill in Canada.
This news follows on from Tonbridge recently being recognised as having two significant strengths – a rare accolade – in the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report, 2024.
