The Good Schools Guide visited Tonbridge School in early February to update the previous review undertaken in 2021. The reviewer spent a day at the School, meeting a cross-section of pupils and staff, as well as touring the site and observing a variety of lessons and co-curricular activities. Following the visit, the School was required to complete a detailed data submission as well as providing the opportunity for the reviewer to speak to parents and the diverse pupil groups in both boarding and day Houses across year groups at Tonbridge.
The Guide describes itself as having "1,450 fearsomely frank reviews of the best schools and tutor agencies in the UK and worldwide", going on to say, "our writers visit on normal school days and meet the headteacher, pupils, parents and teachers, as well as speaking to parents. Their reviews then cover everything from academic matters, sport and the arts to the atmosphere of the school, staff, discipline, fees, facilities and where pupils come from or go on to. Schools are selected on merit and cannot pay to be included".
“Intellectual stimulation at every turn, with sky-high academic standards set by the specialist teachers who pupils told us are ‘passionate about their subjects’ and ‘challenge all including the absolute brightest’”.
Furthermore, the Guide is acknowledged by the Daily Telegraph as being, “...the only guide that offers parents a genuine flavour of what a school is like”, reinforcing its reputation as an independent guide for what pupils and their parents can expect from a school.
