Science Snippets: 4 minutes to win it!

Are you passionate about science? Do you want to help people understand and appreciate the science that makes our world work? Then take part in Tonbridge School's science competition: Science Snippets: 4 minutes to win it!

This competition is all about using your passion and knowledge of science to inspire young minds. In the words of Richard Feynman - "If you can't explain something to a first year student, then you haven't really understood."

The competition is open to science enthusiasts, with categories for:

  • Age 14 - 16
  • Age 17 - 19
  • Undergraduates and postgraduates

1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes will be awarded for each category.

How to enter

To enter the competition, simply submit a 60 second video of yourself talking about your area of interest or specialism in science. Your talk should be clear, fun and informative - for a target audience of 13 year old students.

Entries close on Sunday 6 March 2022 at 5pm.

The Grand Finale

Barton Science Centre
13 May 2022
6.30pm - 9.45pm

All shortlisted entrants will be invited to take part in a live-streamed Grand Finale at Tonbridge School's Barton Science Centre. Shortlisted entrants will be contacted by email on 14 March 2022 to confirm their place in the competition. Competitors will have just 4 minutes to talk about their chosen topic. The judges will be looking for content, clarity, creativity & captivation, and how well you've catered your talk to your young target audience.
