Fees and Charges

The School fees cover tuition, meals, lodging (for boarders), most educational materials and resources, and the cost of participating in the majority of our co-curricular activities. In addition, boys incur variable extras, such as charges for music lessons, other optional charges and school trips.

Tonbridge truly is a place that makes a home for individuals from a wealth of cultures, backgrounds and life experiences, and we will be keen to welcome you to it.

payment of fees

Tuition fees are billed to a boy's parents (or other person responsible for payment) before the start of each term. The School account includes the School fee for the following term, together with any additional charges (or 'extras') for the previous term.

If a Scholarship, Foundation Award or Bursary has been granted, the value of the award will be clearly shown on the bill and deducted from the final total.

Payments can be made via a termly direct debit, a monthly direct debit (via a commercially operated scheme, School Fee Plan), or the Fees in Advance Scheme

Payment in Advance

Our Fees in Advance Scheme allows parents, or others contributing towards fees, to reduce costs by making an advanced lump sum payment.

Scholarships, Foundation Awards and Bursaries

Tonbridge forgoes almost £2.5m each year in fee reductions for our Foundation Award, Scholarships and other awards. The School aims to double its number of Foundation Award recipients by 2028, which would amount to 1 in 8 of our pupils receiving significant financial support.

Other Fee Reductions

Third Son

A 10% reduction of fees is given to the third son (and any subsequent sons) of the same family to attend the school.

Change of Circumstance

The School may be able to offer financial assistance to parents (of boys already at the School), who suffer a significant and unexpected change of financial circumstances, impacting on their ability to keep their son(s) at Tonbridge.
