EM Forster, Howards End
When Tonbridge alumnus EM Forster wrote in Howards End, ‘Only Connect’, he was encouraging the reader to make the connection between the head and the heart, between thought and feelings. Only then, so his argument goes, can we live a life of purpose and become a force for good.
At Tonbridge School, our aim is to help every boy forge the connection between head and heart. Here, we build connections between people, ideas, talents and enthusiasms. In this way, we encourage the boys to make their own connections as they continue their journey through Tonbridge and beyond.
