Three Tonbridge Sixth Formers will be giving a lunchtime organ recital as part of a prestigious concert series featuring top young organists from around the UK.
Alex Trigg (CH5), Kevin Lee (MH5) and Benjamin Gardner (CH4) will be performing at The Church of St Lawrence-Jewry, next to the Guildhall in central London, on Tuesday 3 March.
They will each be playing a piece by JS Bach alongside contrasting works by Durufle, Karg-Elert and Messaien, which will showcase the boys’ musicianship and the varied colours of the organ.
The Church of St Lawrence-Jewry has hosted this series for some years, which features “some of the best of today’s school-aged students” as well as the church’s prestigious Klais organ (built at a similar time to the Tonbridge Marcussen).
The concert will take place between 1pm and 1.45pm. Admission is free. There will be a preview of the boys’ performances this Sunday (1 March) during the Allan Bunney organ recital concert in the Chapel, which starts at 8.15pm.
