The Manor House Foundation Award

Progress against targets

Since fundraising began in April 2008, Old Manorians have been stepping forward with support for the scheme. Here's how we're doing against our targets:

The scheme in summary

  • Ongoing support at Manor for talented and deserving boys who will clearly benefit from the experience.
  • Parents or guardians will be means-tested and fee remission will be up to 100%.
  • Candidates must show passion and potential. They must also be able to contribute to the life of the House (the aim of the scheme is a two-way benefit). Selection will not be based solely on entrance exam results - the interview is a crucial element of the process.
  • The school selects candidates and recommends them to the Manor House Foundation Award Committee (see below) for final approval.
  • Supporters of the scheme will be acknowledged within the House.

Manor House lunch at RAC Pall Mall

A date for your diaries. Wednesday 17th June 2009

The Manor House Foundation Award committee is hosting a lunch at the RAC Pall Mall on Wednesday 17th June. This event is for both OTs and parents and will be followed by an update on the progress of the scheme. We do hope you will be able to join us for what will be a very enjoyable lunch at one of the most celebrated London clubs.

News on candidate selection

The school has tested and interviewed some talented boys who could thrive at Manor House. In each case, the boy could not benefit from a Tonbridge education without substantial financial support. We are hoping to be able to make the offer of our first place within the next couple of months - this will be for first Foundationer to start in 2010.

Our ultimate aim is to support a boy in each year of the House.

It's a scheme that works

Over the years, Tonbridge has been unusually generous in its provision of means-tested bursaries (either centrally funded or through funding from HSBC), and Manor House has been home for many of these boys. From experience, we know the system works. Now, with the Foundation Awards programme, we want to expand it.

A Foundationer - an example

Hillside started fundraising for their Foundation Award scheme two years before Manor. They have now selected their first Foundationer.

Every donation counts!

We have come this far thanks to the good number of generous Old Manorians already taking part. But we need more supporters in order to reach our targets and help a succession of boys enjoy all that Manor and Tonbridge have to offer. Your donation really will make a difference. Here's how we could achieve success:

Just £1 a day from you could make all the difference

A gift of £1 a day over 5 years, with Gift Aid amounts to a total of £2340 towards the fund. Please use our donation calculator to work out what your donation amounts to over time and with Gift Aid.
