Our Sixth Form open events give an insight into life in Years 12 and 13 and how we prepare students for life after Tonbridge.
As well as hearing from the Headmaster, you will have the opportunity to meet teaching staff, our Global Futures Team (who advise on universities and careers) and our admissions team. You will also be taken on a tour of the School by member of the Sixth Form who can share their experience of Tonbridge.
Application
Complete the online Registration Form and to pay the non-refundable registration fee of £350 (inclusive of VAT). The deadline for all registrations is 1 September 2026. Late applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
As part of the Registration Form, you will need to specify the four subjects that your child hopes to pursue at A Level. These are the subjects they will be examined in when applying to the School, in addition to sitting an English Language Exam. Please note that if your child wishes to pursue three A Levels alongside an EPQ, further mathematics, or an Additional Language Qualification as a fourth A Level, they will still need to be examined in four different subjects, and this choice should be indicated on the Form.
International applicants
International applicants are categorised as being those whose parents reside overseas, and we encourage applications from such families. In advance of applicants being considered for a place, they will be required to sit a UKiset assessment, naming Tonbridge as the School you would like the results to be shared with.
Assessment
The initial assessment is either conducted at one of our approved assessment centres, or through a school report for those in UK schools.
If your child performs well in the initial assessment, is predicted strong grades for the end of Year 11 (including predicted grades for GCSE), they will be invited to sit examinations in their chosen A Level subjects, in addition to an English Language Exam. These will take place either at Tonbridge School or at an approved test centre overseas at the beginning of the November.
Based on the results of these exams, applicants may be invited to an online interview with a subject specialist teacher.
Results
The results will be sent out at the beginning of December, and your child will be advised if they have received an unconditional offer, placed on a wait list or if their application was unsuccessful. Once made, the offer is subject to your child reaching the minimum grade entry criteria as set out in your offer letter and the School receiving a satisfactory confidential school reference.
Following the offer, families should complete the Admissions Checklist items via their Tonbridge Portal account and pay the relevant fees. Places must be accepted by the specified date in December.
Students placed on the wait list will be considered as places become available and families will be updated accordingly.
Joining Tonbridge
Your child will join the School in Year 12 in September 2027. Before that time, we will be in regular contact and they will have the opportunity to take part in Sixth Form transition sessions at the School.
