2026 A Level Success

Almost half of the cohort (77 students) have achieved three A* and A grades or more; 72% of grades were A*-A, including 35% A*; and 94% of all grades awarded were A*, A or B.

While we celebrate our leavers’ headline-worthy results and places at the world’s most prestigious universities, we are even prouder of the people they have become and the way they embody embodying Tonbridge’s ethos of Fine Minds and Good Hearts.

James Priory Headmaster

Ollie (CH 21-26)

Chemistry, New College, University of Oxford

As Deputy Head of School and having served on the upper school council, Ollie is a well-respected leader. He has competed in the Chemistry Olympiad, the Chemistry Brawl, the Physics Brawl, the Weizmann safe cracking competition, the C3L6 chemistry competition, the Cambridge chemistry competition, the Trinity Maths competition, the Senior Astrophysics competition, and been a member of the History of Science society and of MedSoc, as well as the Athena society for the academic scholars.

“I’ll miss having such a great group of people around me, from mates in house, or those I’ve played sport or done drama with, but I am looking forward to meeting new people and the challenges ahead.”

Jaden (CH 21-26)

Harvard University

Gaining offers from Oxford, Yale, Princeton and Harvard are a fitting tribute to Jaden’s academic ability, interest in learning and commitment to the intellectual life of the School.

“Jaden’s passion, energy and enthusiasm for performing are astonishing, and he is undoubtedly one of the greatest acting talents that we have had at the school, his success victory in the National Youth monologue competition confirming this.”

Zikora (JH 21-26)

Princeton University

Zikora has pursued a huge range of interests at Tonbridge, ranging from academic and sport to music. He has represented the School in senior teams for rugby, football and athletics.

“My highlights from Tonbridge are a tie between two very different experiences: volunteering with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children through Tonbridge Community Action was very rewarding and has given me an appreciation for the richness of experiences behind each person. On the other hand, playing for the 1st XV against Wellington was equally unforgettable, with the intensity of the atmosphere matched only by the ferocity of the game itself.”

Ted (PH 21-26)

Earth Sciences, Exeter College, University of Oxford

In addition to being Head of Park House, Ted’s highlights include the School trips he’s attended, from Iceland to the Yorkshire Dales, Wales and beyond. Ted is a student Member of the Geological Society of London and founded the School’s Geology Society. Understated, relentlessly humble and enthusiastic about everything earth related, Ted is a phenomenal academic.

Alex (CH 21-26)

Mathematics, Trinity College, University of Cambridge

Of particular note is Alex’s achievement as the highest performer nationally in the Cambridge OCR’s A Level Further Mathematics B (MEI) this summer. This follows his fifth gold medal in the 2026 International Maths Olympiad which cemented his place in IMO history as the competition’s most decorated participant.

“Every teacher who has taught Alex has their own story to tell about how amazing he is as a Mathematician. I know that the late Mr Lord considered it the pinnacle of his long and illustrious career as a maths teacher to have been able to spend time teaching Alex.”

Quentin (MH 21-26)

Intending to study Engineering in Switzerland

Beyond his studies, Quentin has a natural ability to bring people together, becoming a central member and captain of the School’s sailing team.

“I’ll miss the connection between teachers and students that builds with each lesson, and the many interesting conversations in classrooms, going beyond the syllabus.”

Alex (FH 21-26)

English Language and Literature, Exeter College, University of Oxford

Alex has been recognised in national and international competitions for both his writing and film making. Most recently, these have included the Cinemagic Young Filmmaker (2025) and Into Film Awards (2026).

He has successfully combined his leadership roles – as Head of House and Secretary for the School’s Film Society, Senior English Society and Green Committee, along with fully participating in all aspects of School life. More broadly, he speaks five languages and has played ice hockey competitively for fourteen years.

Arya (Sc 21-26)

Engineering, Durham University

From competing on the basketball court at Tonbridge to continuing his studies at Durham University, Arya’s excited to deepen his knowledge and apply what he’s learnt at Tonbridge to real-world settings.

“I’ve enjoyed the academic challenge and the people I’ve been able to share it with… Whether working through difficult problems with friends or being part of house life, those shared experiences made the hardest moments the most rewarding.”

Tonbridge Sixth Form is one of the best in the country, recognised by the Independent Schools Inspectorate as a ‘significant strength’ (2025) for the exceptional quality of our curriculum and the rich educational experience we provide.

This summer Tonbridge has announced plans to introduce a co-educational Sixth Form, welcoming its first cohort of girls as day pupils in September 2028 and as boarders from September 2030.  The plans are designed to enhance still further a Sixth Form experience already recognised as a ‘significant strength’ of the School and coincides with the celebration of Tonbridge’s 475th anniversary.
