Gold Duke of Edinburgh presentation evening

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award continues to be a much-loved part of the Tonbridge School experience, with an impressive number of boys taking on the challenge each year.

Following the success of the four-day paddling expedition in Wales, a 120 km journey from Welshpool to Shrewsbury, students from Tonbridge and Walthamstow Hall came together to celebrate their achievements.

During the event, groups presented to families, staff, and peers in Old Big School, showcasing the dedication, perseverance, and skills they developed throughout the expedition.

Jessica Watson-Reynolds said, “The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award enables students to take initiative, to problem-solve, and to work in a team under challenging conditions. Whilst we help facilitate the award at Tonbridge, the onus is on the boys to complete the different sections – volunteering, skill, physical, expedition, and residential (at Gold level) – in order to finish the award. Not everyone manages this, and it’s a testament to the boys’ determination to excel that they do.”
