Championing kindness: ABC leads Anti-Bullying Week across local schools
In honour of Anti-Bullying Week, members of the ABC and pastoral groups visited Somerhill School, The New Beacon, and Sevenoaks Prep to deliver a series of engaging presentations on positive behaviour.
The ABC is one of more than thirty pastoral councils. Its members look out for pupils who may need support and help to promote and reinforce the School’s commitment to preventing and addressing bullying.
These annual visits play an important role in raising awareness of the impact of negative behaviour and in promoting kindness, respect, and inclusion among younger pupils, highlighting the positive influence of the council both at Tonbridge and in local schools.
Josie McNeil, Lower Master said:
I was especially impressed with how well the boys connected to the prep school students. I am sure their message on the importance of being an upstander will have stuck and it was wonderful to hear prep school students answer the boys questions so eloquently.
A member of staff at The New Beacon commented:
Our pupils’ key takeaway was that when we share and celebrate our differences, we discover our similarities – and build a kinder, more harmonious community.
