Tonbridge pair receive Bunbury Festival call-up

Tonbridge boys Sam Baldwin and Sam Hadfield have received a call-up to a renowned cricket festival. 

Both have been selected to take part in this year’s Bunbury Festival, as part of the London and South East Squad.

Bunbury brings together the country’s most talented under-15 schoolboy cricketers to compete in 50-over and T20 matches, and is recognised by the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) as a ‘pathway’ for progression to the county, and national, game. More than 90 ‘Bunburies’ have gone on to play for England.

The festival is being held at Felsted School in the first week of August.

Sam Baldwin (HS2) is a member of Surrey Cricket Club’s Emerging Players Programme, while Sam Hadfield (FH2) is on Kent Cricket’s books as an Academy player. Both have played an important part in the success of the school’s U15A cricket team, which recently completed an entire season unbeaten in Saturday fixtures. 

Chris Morgan, the school’s Director of Sport, said: “The Bunbury Festival presents an excellent opportunity for the boys to challenge themselves against the best players in the country in their age group, and is also an opportunity to develop lifelong friendships. I know the boys will immerse themselves in the experience and I am sure they will learn and grown as a result.

“This selection is a culmination of a lot of hard work from the boys, and also reflects well on the support network around them.”
