School’s harvest collections go to Kent charities

Many hundreds of items have been donated to a Kent foodbank following Tonbridge School’s Harvest Festival collection.

Dozens of bags and boxes of goods, generously donated by boys, their parents and staff at the school, are being taken to Nourish Community Foodbank, a charity which supports people in crisis in Tunbridge Wells, South Tonbridge and the surrounding areas. Items collected include food tins, rice, pasta, soups, cereal and coffee, as well as other essentials such as toothpaste, soaps and shampoo.

During its Harvest Festival celebration last Sunday (7 October), the school also held a collection which raised more than £340 for The Bridge Trust. This charity supports homeless people in West Kent, providing advice and accommodation with the aim of helping them to achieve independent living.

The Revd David Peters, the school’s Chaplain, said: “Once more the Harvest Festival appeal has received tremendous support from the school community. I am delighted that we can assist these extremely worthwhile causes.”
