Ben makes scoring start for Saracens

OT Ben Earl (JH 2011-2016) scored his first Aviva Premiership try on his first start in the competition against Exeter Chiefs last Sunday (4 March).

The Saracens openside flanker showed his pace to wheel away from Exeter backs Phil Dollman and Olly Woodburn and slide under the posts.

Despite the fact that the match was won 24-12 by hosts Exeter, Ben told Saracens.com that he was delighted to score. “It was a great feeling,” he said. “I think we dug in really well and the scoreline doesn’t quite reflect how the game went. We were in the battle for the full 80 minutes and the boys fronted up. I think we showed ourselves in a good light.”

The BBC reported that “Earl’s superb run from outside the Exeter 22” had at one stage brought Saracens within two points of the hosts.

Earlier this year Ben  was named in the England U20 squad for the second year in a row.
