We have prioritised Environmental Sustainability as one of our four pillars of education and are working hard to embed these issues into our thinking and actions.
We are focussing our efforts in the areas of Energy and Carbon Management, Waste Management (Recycle, Repair, Reuse), Environment/Ecology and Education/Engagement.
A culture of sustainability
Environmental Sustainability is taught through areas of the academic curriculum and a pupil-led Green Committee meets weekly to discuss and implement positive change across the Houses and around the campus.
Our efforts have been recently recognised through the Sustainability in Boarding Award (BSA) for making a meaningful difference within our boarding community and last year with an Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction and a Wilder Kent Award.
Sustainable operations
We have recently installed solar panels on the TSC roof and have plans for further solar developments across the School estate. To further reduce our carbon footprint and enable financial savings, we are also in the process of converting all lighting to LED technology. Over time, we are also looking to transition away from gas to renewable electricity for space and water heating as well as in our kitchens.
