Financial assistance application timeline

Register (Year 5)
Registration opens for Year 9 entry at the beginning of the Summer Term.
Families will need to complete a simple financial assessment by 1 October, when registration closes.
Families should contact the Foundation Awards Manager, Ros Griffiths, before registering to confirm eligibility.
Visit (Year 5)
Our Foundation Awards Manager runs two bespoke open mornings for bursary candidates, one in May and one in October. Families can book their place here, closer to the time of the event.
Assessment (Year 6)
A confidential reference is requested from boys’ current schools.
In the first week of November, Year 6 boys will sit the ISEB examination at Tonbridge, either at 9am or 1.30pm.
In the fourth week of November, boys with strong ISEB results and school reference are invited back to Tonbridge for an assessment afternoon and interview.
In January, the top scoring boys will be invited to return for a Shortlist Exam Day, which takes place in early February.
In early February, shortlisted boys return for a full day of assessment including papers in maths and English. Further interviews take place and the opportunity for serious musicians to perform for the Director of Music.
Selection (Year 6)
In January, shortlisted families will be asked to submit detailed financial circumstances for external review. This should be done by 1st February.
In March, Junior Foundation Award offers are made, with confirmation of the level of financial support awarded.
From April to July, the Foundation Awards Manager will visit all families in their homes to answer any questions and make any necessary introductions to Prep Schools for the transition into Year 7.
