Tonbridge U15 cricketers capture the Kent Cup

Tonbridge School’s U15 cricketers have been crowned as Kent Cup champions.

The U15s beat The Skinners School in the final, played at Wye Cricket Club on Tuesday (18 June), by 49 runs.

Tonbridge batted first and reached 108 for 8, with Will Roxburgh (WH2) top scoring with 34, and Hector Stokhuyzen (JH2) making the next best score with 19. 

In reply, Skinners were 59 all out, with Kit Rawlins (WW2), who took three wickets for just 17 runs, and Theo Bannister (FH2), with two for 11, the pick of the bowlers.

Joe Painter, team coach, said: “This was a fine team effort. The boys pulled together after a tough start with the bat and worked hard to win a low-scoring game, played on a tricky wicket with rain around.”

As county champions, the side will now take on Eastbourne College in the next round of the national T20 U15s competition.

The school’s 1st XI cricketers have made it to the regional finals of the HMC National Schools T20 competition, while the U14s are through to the semi-finals of the Kent Cup.
