Tonbridge makes Independent Schools of the Year shortlist

Tonbridge has been shortlisted in the Independent Schools of the Year 2019 awards.

Now in their second year, the awards highlight the quality of the student experience and attracted entries from hundreds of independent schools across the country.

Tonbridge has been selected for the shortlist in the ‘Best Boys’ School’ category. The judges will be meeting again in the autumn to reach a decision on the winners and select highly commended schools from each category. The final results will be announced at an awards ceremony in October.

James Priory, the school’s Headmaster, said: “It has been a very exciting year in the life of Tonbridge. The boys have taken part in an impressive range of activities and events, all of which contribute to their academic and personal development. It is excellent to see the school being recognised for the quality and roundedness of all that the boys achieve.”

Dr Helen Wright, Chair for the Independent Schools of the Year 2019 awards, added: “We received a fantastic response, surpassing the number of entries last year. On the evidence of all the submissions, there is no doubt whatsoever that the independent schools sector in Britain is thriving. Transformative and innovative projects and programmes are under way from Scotland to Cornwall, and the judges have enjoyed reading the schools’ stories.”
