Art of the Weald exhibition features 40 acclaimed artists

Please Note: This event has been postponed.

Art of the Weald, Hospice in the Weald’s latest fundraising event, will take place in Tonbridge’s Old Big School Gallery on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March.

This exhibition and sale, which is a celebration of local artistic talent, is free to attend and open to all.

The works of 40 of the region’s most acclaimed artists will feature, including Dragon Den’s success story Guy Portelli, Louise Giblin, well known for her life-casting, and Sevenoaks oil painter Jackie Gwyther.

Their work will sit alongside a Secret Art Sale display, a gallery of artwork created by Hospice patients and various celebrities. Attendees will bid for their favourite piece in this collection and only upon winning will the artist be revealed.

These items include work from Davina McCall, Dame Judi Dench, Michel Roux Jr, Sally Gunnell, Jo Brand and Jodie Whittaker. All canvasses in the Secret Art Sale have been created with the theme of ‘Celebrating Life’, part of the Hospice strapline.

Liz Pangrazi, Acrylics and Watercolours artist in Tunbridge Wells, said: “I feel very fortunate to be a part of this exhibition. Hospice in the Weald is doing an amazing job of providing vital care to the local community and I am very moved by the cause. I look forward to a successful event and being a part of raising the important funds needed, so they can keep giving their services completely free of charge.”

The exhibition, which will run between 10am and 4.30pm, was inspired by the Creative Art sessions that are enjoyed by patients and their families at the Hospice Day Service and on the In-Patient Ward.

In late 2019 Hospice in the Weald and Tonbridge School announced a new partnership which aims to greatly benefit the wider community. Tonbridge boys and staff are taking part in a variety of voluntary and fundraising activities, while the school will be hosting other Hospice events throughout the year, including a gala dinner in June and a carol service in December.
