Movember campaign sees boys helping to ‘change the face’ of men’s health

More than £5,500 has been raised by a number of boys across the School supporting the vital work of Movember during the past month.

Movember is the leading charity changing the face of men’s health education, running programmes supporting mental health, suicide prevention and men‘s cancer treatment.

This November has seen Tonbridge’s Upper Sixth boys play their part by attempting to grow a moustache – some more successfully than others!

In a campaign run by Joe Baldwin (HS5), Deputy Head of School, one member of each House joined forces in a campaign to grow the finest moustache, with a weekly online information point highlighting their fundraising efforts and the vital work of the charity. Boys were also given the opportunity to vote on the best moustache grown, an accolade won by Aryaman Sahni (CH5).

In addition, Manor House put forward a whole team, including Stefan Hargreaves, Housemaster, and Rob Stephen, Upper Sixth Tutor, with all members growing moustaches and raising an impressive £2,500, while Judde House supported the individual efforts of Cookie Padam Mehta (JH5).

Many boys, parents, staff and friends generously donated to the Movember campaign, which raised a total in excess of £5,500.

In the past two decades millions of men in the UK have accessed the Movember Foundation’s support programmes, while its fundraising efforts across the country have led to improved diagnostic testing, therapies and community mental health projects. These initiatives have helped many men live healthier, happier and longer lives.
