New talent showcased at this term’s Allan Bunney Concert
Will Scott joined Tonbridge in September to teach classical and electric guitar, so this term’s Allan Bunney Concert provided a fantastic opportunity for the school community to hear him play. The concert series was set up by the former Director of Music, Dr Allan Bunney, featuring different members of the Music Staff Team. The Music Department hosts the series once a term on a Sunday evening after Chapel and all are welcome to attend.
After graduating from the Royal College of Music (RCM) with first class honours, Will has enjoyed an illustrious career both on and off stage. On his latest album, “Passing Time”, released last year, he plays the music of William Lovelady and this provided the cornerstone of his programme for the Allan Bunney concert. Will paired Lovelady’s pieces with works of similar genres, including Tango, Brazilian music and African-inspired pieces.
After playing the last piece, Benga Beat – incorporating a strong percussive element, which was composed by his guitar teacher at the Royal College f Music, Gary Ryan, Will treated the audience to an electric demo including the use of a loop station.
