En Garde in Istanbul
Novi pupil and keen fencer, Alexander (FH1), is heading to Istanbul later this month to represent Great Britain at the U14 European Fencing Confederation Festival, where he will compete against 17 other European countries, including favourites, France and Italy, with each bringing their best eight competitors.
As this is the only opportunity for the U14 category to represent their country this year, Alexander’s inclusion in the GB team is an incredible achievement and a testament to his commitment to the sport.
Upon hearing the news of his selection, he said, “It’s very exciting to be representing Great Britain”, after having fenced for five years at both his previous school and London-based club. He went on to explain, “Fencing is brilliant at Tonbridge, as there are lots of boys with more experience who are very supportive and have helped me with my technique.”
