Tonbridge Sixth Former selected for prestigious Physics summer school
Samuel (FH4) has been selected to attend the Senior Physics Challenge residential summer school, organised by Isaac Physics. This exciting opportunity is hosted at the University of Cambridge during the first week of the summer holidays.
Just 50 places are available and, to be successful, students must complete more than 800 questions on the ‘Isaac Physics’ platform, which are often well beyond the A-level syllabus in terms of complexity.
Christopher Powell, Head of Physics, said, “Samuel’s achievement is testament to his hard work and Physics insight, as well as his problem-solving ability and his commitment to, and interest in, the subject.”
Samuel becomes the ninth Tonbridge student to be taking up this prestigious summer placement offer, following in Robin’s footsteps last year.
Samuel joined Tonbridge School for Sixth Form from Dulwich College, Beijing, as he was keen to study A-levels in the UK, given his aspiration to pursue his interest in science at Cambridge University. Samuel is enjoying studying for his A-levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry, as he has been able to focus more time on his subjects of interest.
Samuel explained that chose Tonbridge because of “its academic strength, both in exam outcomes and the academic competitions, such as Maths Olympiads, as well as the interesting teachers.” Beyond his studies, he has enjoyed participating in sailing, cross country, and climbing, in addition to playing piano and spending time with his friends in his boarding House.
