Lower Sixth Scholars’ Concert
On the evening of Thursday 16 October, Mark Forkgen, Director of Music, introduced our Lower Sixth Music Scholars’ Concert, held in the Recital Room for students, family, friends, Housemasters and Matrons.
The eclectic programme showcased the boys’ skill, confidence and artistic flair, with pieces ranging from the likes of Chopin, Debussy and Rachmaninoff to Catherine McMichael’s jazz-inspired Fusion, and an acoustic duet from 1990s band, The Verve. The latter featured voice, guitar and violin, arranged by the performers specifically for this concert.
Other highlights included solos on the tuba, bassoon and harp, as well as a strong cadre of pianists. This showcase of individual talent whetted our appetites for the public concert series which leads up to Christmas (tickets and further information available from the EM Forster theatre box office).
Congratulations to all who performed and thank you to accompanists, Laurence Long, Organist & Accompanist in Residence and Marcus Andrew, Head of Keyboard.
