Pink Day 2025
Tonbridge School was transformed into a sea of pink as pupils and staff came together for Pink Day 2025, a vibrant celebration of community spirit and compassion, held in support of those affected by breast and other forms of cancer.
First launched in 2007 to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pink Day has become a highlight of the School’s calendar. Over the years, the initiative has raised the equivalent of more than £100,000, while shining a light on the vital work of local cancer charities and the importance of staying alert to changes in our own health. This year’s fundraising showed continued success as the School community came together to raise an outstanding £6,530 for the initiative.
This year, funds were raised in aid of Breast Cancer Kent and Sarcoma UK, with staff and boys proudly donning pink attire. The School grounds were transformed with hundreds of metres of pink fabric, while sales of pink-themed cakes and sweets helped boost fundraising totals. Large banners were displayed at the front of school, as well as the main school buildings being adorned with acres of fabric, as a public demonstration of our support for all those affected by cancer in our wider community.
Encouraging sustainability, charity stalls offered pre-loved pink clothing donated by the Demelza Hospice shop, raising over £1,200 for the cause and helping to give new life to second-hand fashion.
Prior to the day, the boys heard from Mr Fisher, Deputy Head Co-curricular, as he reflected on how Pink Day has supported and encouraged staff and boys over the years as they have faced their own journeys with cancer, and the powerful successes in medical treatment for cancers of many sorts over the past eighteen years.
The day began with a moving Chapel service, with the senior saxophone quartet playing a cheerful arrangement from Rossini’s Barber of Seville, and ending with the organ playing ‘The Pink Panther’ as the boys left Chapel.
Funds raised for Breast Cancer Kent in previous years have supported the purchase of specialist equipment and expertise to support those locally affected by breast cancer. Funds raised from Pink Day 2025 have already made a meaningful impact,
Pink Day 2025 has so far raised over £5,000, with donations from many Houses in the school still to be counted. Donations are still being accepted via the campaign’s JustGiving page.
