Yau Science Award Regional Finals
Yijun (PH4) has been selected as a regional finalist in the prestigious Yau Science Award, which recognises outstanding student research in mathematics, computing and related fields. His paper, completed over the summer, ranked among the top three per cent of submissions worldwide.
His project, “Towards Human-Centric Fairness: The VBBQ Benchmark and Sensitive-Attribute Invariance Control for Multimodal Large Language Model Debiasing,” examines how artificial intelligence systems that process both text and images can be improved to reduce social and cultural bias.
Yijun will present his work at Columbia University, New York, on 15 November as part of the North America Division final round.
