OT continues unbeaten streak winning Gold in Lucerne
George Bourne (FH 11-16) was part of Great Britain’s Men’s Four, which extended their impressive unbeaten run by claiming another Gold medal on the renowned ‘Lake of the Gods’ at the World Rowing Cup in Lucerne.
Fresh from winning the World Rowing Championships last year, George, accompanied by Dan Graham, James Robson and Douwe de Graaf continued their dominant form after their victory at World Rowing Cup I in Seville. In Lucerne, they once again produced an outstanding performance to take the top spot on the podium.
Romania finished second to claim the Silver medal, while France secured Bronze after pushing the British crew all the way to the finish.
Reflecting on the victory and the significance of winning in Lucerne, George said, “It means a lot. Congratulations to France and Romania because that was super tough and they kept coming the whole way. To win here is very special; it feels like the Monaco of rowing and a jewel that shines slightly brighter. I’ve got a bit of personal history here from the past couple of years, and it’s exactly the sort of race I’d like on the Rotsee. To do it with these guys is just awesome”.
Congratulations to George and his teammates on their success, and we look forward to following his future success.
